How to Transition Into Healthier Eating

by Jessica Marie on March 26th, 2012

Find food in simpler forms; add more variety and freshness while still maintaining some of your favorite ingredients helps the body accept the new food.  It also causes less of a shock to the system, both body and mind.
Making these changes over a period of time is a great way to ease your body into the change.  Keeping the transition slow will allow your effort to be successful.  Substituting one unhealthy ingredient with a healthier one while still maintaining the general recipe is also recommended to help ease the transition.
Totally avoiding unhealthy foods is of course ideal but really quite unrealistic.  It causes the individual to feel deprived and stressed; therefore a better alternative would be to wean yourself slowly off the item instead.
Learning to eat in smaller portions also helps you start the journey towards healthy eating. Cutting out certain foods may be such a difficult effort that the next best solution would be to cut down the portions. Developing the habit of avoiding heavier meals toward the end of the day is also wise.
Between aiming for smaller portions, foods in a more simple form and avoiding heavier meals in the evening the transition is successful.  Aim to include one of these items in your weekly goals toward a healthier, more energized you.
