Achieving your goals is easy once you have a plan in place. Just like taking a road trip, you need a map to get you around the roadblocks. By putting your goals into a perspective of a road trip, you can map out the detours you need. On the journey to a healthier you the roadblocks are referred to as obstacles.
You will face many obstacles on your journey, how you react to them will make all the difference. You can just let them remain and continue to block your success, or you can remove them from your path. I choose removing them from my path. I know doing this will help me along my journey, by getting me where I want to be; after all, the quickest way from one point to another is a straight line.
First, you need to know what your obstacles are. I love the exercise of writing down all the obstacles I am facing or could face. After I have done this, I put a positive phrase next to each one that turns it into a positive for me. Then, I end with a list of obstacles and responses to them. I am prepared. I am able to respond appropriately so I can continue my journey.
This is the list I recently made in reference to my top ten goals:
My ex ~ Now out of my life so I am safe and am in control of my own life.
Moving away from family is tough ~ My family will always be there and I am going where I can be the most successful.
I’m afraid of the unknown ~ I am learning so much, soon it will be the known.
Money is tight ~ I am able to reach my goals with what I have. New things are only wants, I have all that I need.
I only have a part-time job ~ I will get that full time job when the time is right. I am happy with what I am doing; how many people actually get a part-time job doing what their passion is.
By taking the negative thoughts and turning them into positives, I know that I am well on my way to reaching my goals.
