The World Takes YOU at Your Own Estimate

Being committed to YOU plays the biggest key role in your motivation.

This journey has to be all about You.

You are the most important person in your life.

YOU have to be fit and healthy to do everything else you want to accomplish in life.

Are you in it for your kids? That’s great, but how are you going to do something for them if you are unable to do it for yourself.

Are you doing this so you can be more confident?  Yeah losing weight can make you more confident.  The process of taking steps to a successful resolution will make you more confident every time.  Losing weight is a goal you are striving to reach.  Reaching that goal will be a huge success, in turn, leading to confidence.

Are you doing this so your husband/wife think you are sexy?…let me tell you, they probably already think that.  The truth is, you probably do not feel sexy yourself.  Becoming fit & healthy is how you begin to feel that way.109907_1863787

Overcoming your largest obstacle (or what you are probably thinking is your largest obstacle) to life, your weight, is going to be what allows you to feel differently about yourself.  Are you overweight because you feel lousy about yourself?  Probably.  Many of our negative feelings towards ourselves inadvertently lead us to feeding ourselves all that fatty, oily, high calorie food.  It’s time to begin changing how you feel about YOU.

You can only give all of yourself to others for so long.  The feelings of unworthiness, stress, fatigue, insecurity and ugliness can only pull on you for so long before you break.

Make time for YOURSELF.

Make this journey about YOU.

Learn about YOURSELF while on this journey.  Scary thought?  I know, but it’s true.  Without being able to love YOURSELF, it is hard to let others love you.

Give yourself credit for how far you have come!  You have taken a huge step, just by pursuing the want to be healthier.

Saying, “YES, I want to do this!”  Is probably the most important thing you will ever say.  The next is, “I am in it for ME!”

There are several reasons that you may want to lose the weight, but if you look deep inside, I bet they are really all about you.  One of my new found favorite quotes is,

Think highly of yourself because the world takes you at your own estimate.”

(Of course, I am unable to remember who wrote this quote.)

I found this quote and put it everywhere!  It’s written on my bathroom mirrors so I see it every time I look in the mirror.  This quote means so much to me.

Weight will come off.  You can continue with the same routines.  You can continue with the same workout regime.  You can continue eating all the healthy foods you are eating.  Until you make this journey about you and start building your momentum by appreciating yourself, the journey will be hard.

How do I stay motivated?

  • Build a vision collage then post it where you will see it every day.
  • Make a list of all the reasons (every little, itty bitty one) and post it where you will see it every day.
  • Post motivational quotes where you will see them daily.
  • Post quotes about your goal where you will see them daily.
  • Close your eyes and picture your goal for five minutes every day.
  • Start an accomplishment journal.  Before you go to bed, every night, write five things you are proud of accomplishing for the day.
  • Begin a compliment journal.  Write five compliments to yourself every day.
  • Ask a friend to give you a list of your positive characteristics.
  • Ask your kids why they love you. (These responses may be more than you could imagine so prepare yourself.  They are huge.)
  • Ask your husband/wife what qualities they fell in love with.
  • Create a habit of giving yourself one compliment every time you look in a mirror.
  • Make a list of all your dreams.
  • Find and post pictures of things that are the most inspirational/motivational to you.
  • Set aside time for yourself daily.
  • Keep a sticker chart of days you reach your goals.
  • Make a paperclip chain, adding a paper clip every time you complete a workout.
  • Ask a friend to give you a list of your positive characteristics.
  • Ask your kids why they love you. (These responses may be more than you could imagine so prepare yourself.  They are huge.)
  • Ask your husband/wife which qualities they fell in love with.
